Roaming Bilingual GM/Project Manager in Gatineau (Commercial Roofing Systems - ASP Required)

Your new company
Our client is a rapidly expanding family Ottawa-based General Contractor that has recently and successfully acquired a respected, long-established commercial roofing systems business in Gatineau, Quebec. This acquisition creates a powerful new division specializing in high-quality commercial, institutional, and industrial roofing systems, typically managing annual sales between $3M and $5M. The organization operates with a dedicated staff of 20 to 30 experienced professionals and is focused on driving growth and operational excellence across the National Capital Region.

Your new role
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Bilingual Project Manager / General Manager to lead this newly acquired commercial roofing division. This is a critical hybrid role, combining hands-on project management with overarching operational oversight to ensure the division's continued success and profitability. You will be responsible for managing all aspects of 2 to 5 active projects concurrently, from pre-construction to close-out.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Project Management: Estimating, budgeting, scheduling, procurement, and client relations.
  • Operational Leadership: Direct supervision and coordination of site staff and trades to ensure efficient, safe, and compliant site operations.
  • Reporting: Directly reporting to the Owner and key Stakeholders, providing regular updates on financial performance, project status, and strategic goals.
  • Compliance: Ensuring strict adherence to all Quebec construction standards, safety regulations, and quality control procedures.
This role requires a 50/50 split of time between office duties (Gatineau) and site travel across active projects in the region.
What you'll need to succeed
  • Experience: Proven track record (5+ years preferred) in Project Management and/or Operational Management within the commercial roofing sector (flat roofing, membranes, etc.) or a related construction trade.
  • Bilingualism: Absolute fluency in French (written and spoken) is mandatory to manage projects and crews effectively in the Gatineau market and communicate with the Ottawa-based ownership.
  • Certification: Mandatory possession of the ASP Construction (Santé et Sécurité Générale sur les Chantiers de Construction) card.
  • Skills: Strong technical knowledge of commercial roofing systems, exceptional financial acumen, superior leadership capabilities, and a deep commitment to site safety and quality.
  • Mobility: Must hold a valid driver's license and be prepared for frequent travel (50% of the time) between the home, office, construction sites, and client meetings.
What you'll get in return
This is an opportunity to lead a growing, established business unit with the financial backing of a larger, successful parent company. Compensation and benefits include:
  • Highly competitive base salary between $90,000-$120,000+ (commensurate with experience and project list).
  • Attractive performance-based bonus structure.
  • Comprehensive group benefits package.
  • Paid vacation time.
  • Provisions for technology and travel: Newer company vehicle (take home), paid gas card, company computer, and cellphone and/or bill reimbursement.
What you need to do now
If you are a results-oriented bilingual leader in commercial roofing and are ready to take on a challenging and rewarding hybrid role, we want to hear from you. Please forward your full, detailed resume along with a comprehensive project list outlining your specific contributions and responsibilities in past projects.
