Our client is a very well-established asset-based trucking company (150+ units) and has a job open for Bilingual (French) Director Fleet, Eastern Canada for this company-owned trucks, Employee Drivers, to optimize routing & driver management and complete operating costs and P&L for Montreal, Quebec, Maritimes Atlantic regions. The role is based in the Montreal, QC area 5 days on site. This is a day shift role but on-call, off-duty hours. All candidates should be fully bilingual — French /English, functionally and verbally. This is a role-up-the-sleeve work environment, and candidates will work directly with drivers, coach, mentor and performance management, lead and develop the middle management teams of supervisors, compliance, trainers, dispatchers and analysts.

Your new role

Bilingual (French) Director, Fleet Trucking & Transportation, Eastern Canada will be fully responsible for optimizing routing, City dispatch and long hauls, be fully responsible for operating costs (fuel costs, budgets), driver compliance — manuals, training and similar, be responsible for on-road H&S, oversee dispatchers and schedulers yet manage the long-term strategic growth of the department through Continuous Improvement initiatives. You will analyze reports on routing KPIs through TMS, report as a cost centre on spends, fuel costs, oversee load planning, routing in Eastern Canada. This is a Continuous Improvement, strategic, leadership yet hands-on role.

What you'll need to succeed

Bilingual (French) Director, Fleet Trucking & Transportation, will have a minimum of 8–10 years of senior people leadership; fleet management (company-owned trucks) / asset based (100+ units) commodity transportation, budget management and operating costs management (MUST), employee driver management (100+). Strong experience in routing optimization, TMS within Eastern Canada (Montreal, Quebec, Martimes & Atlantic Canada), some travel to the local hubs in Eastern Canada (30%). Good cross-border customs compliance, driver records compliance and similar are preferred. This is a role-up-the-sleeve work culture with a strong face-to-face presence with drivers and needs strong analytical skills, business acumen, fuel efficiencies, cost experience with Advanced Excel, TMS skills and similar. A Bachelor’s degree is highly preferred, courses in transportation, trucking, logistics, supply chain, P. Log, CITT, CCLP or similar are highly preferred. Excellent English/French communication skills (MUST). Knowledge of local Eastern Canada geography MUST.
