Client: Large Retail Organization
Role: Sr Back End Developer
Job Type: Contract (6+ months), high possibility of extension.
Location: 2X per week on site, Downtown Toronto.

Your New Role
As a Senior Backend Developer (Java), you’ll be part of the Product Services domain team—a core group responsible for transforming enterprise data into actionable insights. You’ll design and maintain robust backend systems that ingest, enrich, and distribute product and promotional data across various platforms. This role goes beyond API development; it’s about building scalable, reliable services that empower internal teams and enhance customer experiences.

What You'll Need to Succeed
  • Proven experience as a senior backend developer in enterprise or data-heavy environments
  • Expertise in Java and building RESTful APIs and distributed systems
  • Strong understanding of data modelling, parsing, and
transformations
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and Istio (GCP is a plus)
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and tools like GitLab, Jenkins, or TeamCity
  • Comfort working in a DevOps culture with production ownership
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
  • A proactive mindset and a strong sense of ownership
