Job Summary
The Applications Project Manager will drive the successful delivery and management of IT applications throughout their lifecycle. This role is pivotal in ensuring the effectiveness, security, and innovation of our applications, thereby contributing to the organization's overall technological advancement and operational efficiency.

Technical Accountabilities
  • Technical Expertise: Maintain a high level of expertise in IT applications and systems, ensuring current knowledge of best practices, emerging technologies, and industry trends.
  • System Integration: Oversee the integration of various IT applications to ensure seamless operation, performance, and security across platforms.
  • Technical Solutions: Assess and recommend technical solutions that align with business needs, enhancing efficiency and productivity.
  • Quality Assurance: Implement thorough testing and quality assurance protocols to verify the functionality, stability, and security of IT applications.

Managerial Accountabilities:
  • Resource Management: Allocate and manage resources effectively to ensure project delivery within scope, time, and budget constraints.
  • Vendor Management: Collaborate and negotiate with vendors, ensuring adherence to contractual obligations and service level agreements.
  • Budget Oversight: Develop, oversee, and manage the project budget, ensuring optimal expenditure and focus on minimizing the total cost of ownership.

Leadership Accountabilities
  • Vision and Strategy: Articulate a clear vision and strategy for IT application projects that align with organizational goals.
  • Inspire the Team: Motivate and inspire project teams, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Conflict Resolution: Proactively identify and address conflicts within the team or with stakeholders, employing effective mediation and negotiation techniques to find mutually beneficial solutions.
  • Stakeholder Management: Develop and maintain strong relationships with all project stakeholders, ensuring their needs and expectations are understood and managed effectively throughout the project lifecycle.
Teamwork Accountabilities
  • Collaboration: Promote collaborative working relationships within and across teams to achieve project objectives.
  • Communication: Ensure clear, consistent, and transparent communication channels within the team and with stakeholders.
  • Support and Mentoring: Provide support, guidance, and mentorship to team members, encouraging their professional growth.

Project Management Accountabilities
  • Project Planning: Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, milestones, and deliverables.
  • Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks to ensure successful project completion.
  • Performance Monitoring: Monitor project progress, addressing any deviations from the plan promptly and efficiently.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Engage and manage stakeholders throughout the project to ensure their input is valued and incorporated, and their concerns are addressed.
  • Project Delivery: Ensure timely and successful delivery of IT projects, meeting defined goals and expectations.
  • Stakeholder Management: Maintain effective communication and relationships with stakeholders, keeping them informed and engaged.
  • Change Management: Implement change management processes to handle adjustments and transitions smoothly.

Contract Management and Service Delivery
  • Contract Negotiations: Engage in contract negotiations with vendors and service providers to ensure terms and conditions are favorable and align with project goals.
  • Service Level Agreements (SLAs): Develop and enforce SLAs to ensure vendors and service providers meet defined performance standards.
  • Monitoring and Reporting: Regularly monitor service delivery and provide detailed reports on performance against SLAs, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Quality Control: Implement rigorous quality control measures to ensure all applications and services meet the required standards and deliver optimal performance.

Compliance, Adherence to Standards, and Architecture
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all project activities comply with relevant laws, regulations, and organizational policies.
  • Standards Adherence: Adhere to established standards and best practices for IT architecture and application development.
  • Architectural Guidelines: Develop and enforce architectural guidelines to ensure consistency and quality across IT applications.

Cyber, Risk, Cost, and Compliance Activities
  • Cybersecurity: Implement robust cybersecurity measures to protect IT applications and data from threats and breaches.
  • Risk Assessment: Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential vulnerabilities and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Cost Management: Monitor and manage project costs to ensure financial efficiency and prevent overruns, with an emphasis on minimizing the total cost of ownership.
  • Compliance Audits: Perform compliance audits to verify adherence to legal and regulatory requirements.

Tools and Systems
  • Project Management Software: Proficiency in tools such as MS Project, Jira, Trello, or equivalent.
  • Technical Tools: Familiarity with various IT applications, systems, platforms, and databases.
  • Reporting Tools: Experience with reporting and analytics tools to track project metrics and performance.
  • Familiarity with project management methodologies (for example, that of the Project Management Institute, PRINCE2 and Agile approaches).

Routine and Administrative Tasks
  • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including plans, reports, and correspondence.
  • Meeting Coordination: Schedule and facilitate regular project meetings, preparing agendas and minutes.
  • Status Reporting: Provide regular status updates to senior management and stakeholders on project progress and outcomes.
  • Compliance: Ensure all project activities comply with relevant laws, regulations, and organizational policies.

Mandatory Certification(s) Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer PMP (Project Management Professional) Certification or equivalent.
  • Scrum Master Certification or equivalent Agile certification.
  • Strong knowledge of ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) practices.
