We are working with a leading construction company based in Burnaby looking to bring in an Accounts Payable Specialist to add to the team. The role will offer excellent growth in accounting for those with experience in a high-volume environment.

Your new role

• Full cycle of accounts payable by receiving payments, processing, verifying and reconciling invoices, including the verification of rates on the invoices, and obtaining approval.
• Communicate with vendors regarding invoice and statement discrepancies, and missing invoices
• Data entry of invoices in an accurate and timely manner
• Print cheques, send them for signature and mail them to suppliers
• Maintain schedules to track certain purchases
• Reconciliation of accounts payable, vendor balances, and review balances
• Prepare weekly and monthly reports for the owners and management team
• Reconciliation of credit card accounts and bank accounts
• Assist in investigating unusual transactions
• Prepare related party invoices and payments
• Maintain organized and accurate records of financial transactions
• Assist with the year-end audit process, including preparation of working papers and analysis

What you'll need to succeed

• 3+ years of experience in a similar role
• Experience dealing with high volume, manual invoices
• Excellent vendor management experience
• Solid attention to detail, proactively following up when needed to ensure outstanding information or actions are completed on time
• Sage experience is needed
• Analytical skills to interpret financial data and identify discrepancies
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
