Accounting Manager - Commerical Construction
Role: Accounting Manager
Compensation Package: $120,000 + 3 weeks’ vacation + 100% benefits coverage + 4% RSP match + onsite parking
The Accounting Manager is responsible for creating and maintaining accurate and compliant financial documents. Works in the general ledger to help maintain the account accuracy for each period and year end close. Accurately and timely manages Project Accounting functions for percentage of completion reporting on construction projects. Business partner with Project Managers to account for project details and analyze budgets vs actual results. Accurately forecast cost and timing of project details. Works to maintain accrual and provision accuracy and financial analysis which involves intercompany communication. Assists Corporate Controller with any special projects and general accounting tasks.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage percentage of completion accounting reports and schedules
- Responsible for month end and year end close
- Record journal entries and reconcile accounts
- Analyze financial data and provide recommendations
- Ensure financial records comply with regulatory standards
- Generate financial reports as needed
- Collaborate with other departments to complete accurate records and provide accounting support
- Gather necessary tax documents and prepare sales and other taxes
- Support external audit
- Perform invoice processing, progress billings and associated sales reporting
- Ensure accuracy of inventory and lead year end physical inventory
- Support the Corporate Controller and other financial professionals in their duties as needed
- Other duties as assigned
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree – Finance/Accounting with a minimum of 5 years of project accounting and general accounting experience in the commercial construction industry
- Viewpoint Vista knowledge a plus
- Proficient in percentage of completion (POC) accounting and construction contracts
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
