Accounting Manager

Hays recruitment has teamed up with a Retail company who are looking for an Accounting Manager to join their team immediately. This is a 3 month contract to start, with potential to extend or become permanent. This is a hands-on Accounting role for a small offshore accounting team. You will play a critical role in inventory and cost accounting, month-end close, financial reporting, and continuous process improvement within a dynamic, fast-paced environment.


Your new role

  • Lead and oversee a small offshore accounting team responsible for daily accounts payable and accounts receivable activities, including invoice processing, collections, and vendor payments.
  • Maintain the general ledger through preparation and review of journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Complete bank reconciliations and support all financial record maintenance.
  • Support the preparation of monthly consolidated account reconciliations.
  • Manage key areas of inventory accounting, including costing, variance analysis, reporting, and reconciliation.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, management reports, bank reporting packages, and variance analyses.
  • Perform inventory valuation, COGS analysis, and inventory reconciliations.
  • Collaborate with operations and supply chain teams to collect and validate cost data.
  • Perform bank and general ledger reconciliations with accuracy and timeliness.
  • Identify, recommend, and implement internal controls and process enhancements to safeguard company assets and improve accounting efficiency.
  • Assist with internal and external audit activities, providing documentation and explanations as required.
  • Contribute strategically to ERP implementation initiatives (Sage X3), including process mapping and testing.


What you'll need to succeed

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • CPA designation required.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting and financial analysis experience.
  • Full-cycle accounting experience required.
  • At least 2 years of hands-on inventory accounting experience (critical requirement).
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, best practices, and internal control frameworks.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including preparation of reports and presentations.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Experience with Sage X3 strongly preferred.
