Hays Specialist Recruitment is partnering with a reputable organization within the energy sector to hire an Accounting Analyst, Cost & Capital for a maternity leave coverage contract. This opportunity is ideal for an accounting professional who thrives in a collaborative, project-driven environment and enjoys working across operations, commercial, and finance functions. You will be joining a high-performing team focused on operational excellence, continuous improvement, and delivering accurate financial insights to support critical business decisions.


Key Responsibilities
  • Execute cost and capital accounting activities, including asset in-servicing, depreciation analysis, and capital reporting
  • Prepare and review project-related accruals, financial analysis, and reporting to support ongoing projects
  • Perform and monitor asset reconciliations and ensure accuracy across financial records
  • Support forecasting activities, including depreciation and capital budget tracking
  • Monitor and report on cost and capital budgets, identifying variances and trends
  • Assist with cost allocation setup and ongoing tracking within the ERP system
  • Collaborate with operations, commercial, and project teams to resolve accounting issues and improve processes
  • Support audit requests and maintain accurate documentation and working papers
  • Assist with customer billing and related financial processes
  • Lead or contribute to cost analysis discussions with operational leaders
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and contribute to enhanced controls and reporting
  • Support ad hoc accounting and finance initiatives as required


What You Need to Succeed
  • 3–5 years of progressive accounting or finance experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field
  • CPA designation (in progress or completed) or equivalent experience
  • Strong experience with cost and capital accounting, including asset management and reconciliations
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical capabilities
  • Experience working with ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics or similar preferred)
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally
  • Self-motivated and able to manage priorities in a deadline-driven environment
Nice to Have
  • Experience in energy, industrial, or large project-based environments
  • Exposure to process improvement or system optimization initiatives
  • Experience supporting audits and cross-functional financial reporting
