Accountant – Fleming Property Management

Job Title: Accountant – Fleming Property Management
Location: Ottawa (On-Site)

About Fleming Property Management:
A family-owned and operated residential property management company with a strong commitment to integrity, community, and hands-on service. For over 30 years, they have proudly managed a growing portfolio of multi-family apartment buildings, with a focus on long-term care for their properties and the people who live in them.
They are looking for a trusted financial professional to join their close-knit leadership team. This plays a key role in helping maintain high standards while planning for thoughtful, sustainable growth.

Position Overview:
The Accountant will take ownership of the day-to-day and month-end accounting for the residential properties. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys wearing multiple hats, is highly organized, and takes pride in doing things the right way.
We’re looking for someone who values accountability, clear communication, and being part of a small team where your contributions really matter.

Key Responsibilities:
•Lead accounting functions across the residential portfolio, including A/P, A/R, bank reconciliations, journal entries, and monthly closings
•Extract financial reports from Yardi to be presented to ownership
•Monitor rent collections, and vendor payments
•Liaise with property staff to ensure accurate coding and spending oversight
•Maintain and improve internal controls and accounting systems
•Assist with capital project tracking and loan reporting

What We’re Looking For:
•5+ years of accounting experience, ideally in real estate or property management
•Proficient in Excel; experience with property management software (Yardi) is an asset
•Highly organized, self-motivated, and comfortable working independently and in a small team environment
•A good team player who understands and respects the dynamics of a family-run business

What We Offer:
•A stable, long-term opportunity with meaningful work
•Direct collaboration with ownership and decision-makers
•Flexibility and trust in how you manage your responsibilities
•A positive, respectful working environment
•A chance to contribute to the continued success of a values-driven company
