Senior First Nations Relations Coordinator / Senior Program Liaison - 6-month contract

Hays is partnering with a large energy company based in Alberta. We are hiring a Senior First Nations Relations Coordinator / Senior Program Liaison.
  • Contract Duration: ASAP to April 2026 (6 months)
  • Location: Athabasca, Alberta
  • Work Environment: Field-based
  • Schedule:
    Monday – Saturday (6 days), 10–12-hour work days

Your new role
We are seeking a motivated and culturally aware professional to support the delivery of a community-focused engagement initiative related to construction activities. This role involves coordinating with various stakeholders, facilitating site visits, and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations for program participants. The successful candidate will act as a key point of contact between First Nations communities and project teams, helping foster meaningful dialogue and collaboration throughout the program’s lifecycle.
Responsibilities:
  • Assist with participant onboarding and orientation processes
  • Help manage daily logistics and scheduling for field visits.
  • Support safe and informed participation in site activities
  • Facilitate conversations around project scope and environmental considerations
  • Maintain communication with internal teams and external partners
  • Act as a liaison to address questions, concerns, and feedback from participants and communities
  • Contribute to the resolution of emerging issues and support cultural protocols as needed
  • Participate in community meetings and provide general program updates
  • Assist with tracking participant activity and reporting metrics
  • Maintain schedules and documentation related to fieldwork
  • Help gather stories, feedback, and insights from participants.
  • Support internal reporting and database updates
  • Provide basic troubleshooting assistance with participant tools and resources.
  • Attend team meetings to share updates and collaborate on program improvements
What you'll need to succeed
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant education and/or industry experience
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated cultural awareness and sensitivity
  • Ability to meet safety and site access requirements (including valid driver’s license and drug/alcohol clearance)
  • Experience in natural resources, environmental monitoring, or construction-related fields is an asset.
  • Comfortable working in dynamic environments and adapting to evolving priorities
  • Willingness to work extended hours and travel as needed
