A leading energy sector company with operations in Calgary have an immediate need for a Supervisor, Financial Systems.

Your new role
  • Lead, coach, mentor, and motivate a team of employees; this includes providing direction, expertise and advice to employees, identifying employee training requirements, and formally managing the performance of employees
  • Manage all elements of employee relations, including working closely with Human Resources on hiring, terminations, training, and performance appraisals for the employee file, administering progressive discipline, and resolving labour relations issues and/or grievances
Financial Systems
  • Supervise and support SAP FI/CO and SAP BPC modules to enhance the Company’s business functionality and overall performance
  • Work with the broader Corporate & Regulatory Finance team to recommend changes and gather and interpret user/system requirements into design specifications.

  • Design and develop scalable reusable data models in SAP FI/CO and SAP BPC in line with architectural standards and best practices to meet business requirements while ensuring compliance with all appropriate the company IT standards (i.e., security, architecture, SOX, etc.)
  • Collaborate with application developer/designers on configuration and functional designs; address any potential design development issues
  • Lead users in detailed business process blueprint activities and provide or lead the end-user training in the FI/CO functions
  • Oversee every aspect of project stage activity within FI/CO area ensuring timely delivery, quality and accountability of the project completion
  • Conduct system required checks, including the configuration of system integration points between SAP FI/CO and other integrated modules
  • Work with the IT team to ensure system requirements are met and are appropriate including associated validation, controls and integration
  • Build enterprise interactive dashboards using Power BI Dataset interfaced to SAP
  • Identify and resolve gaps in data or information quality
  • Special projects and other duties as assigned

What you'll need to succeed
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); specifically utilizing Excel for data analysis and modeling
  • Advanced proficiency in SAP FI/CO, SAP BW/BI Reporting, SAP BPC & SAP/4 Hana, PowerBI and other analytic tools
  • Knowledge of General Ledger (FI-GL), Asset Accounting (FI-AA), Special Purpose Ledger (FI-SL), cost element accounting, cost centre accounting, internal order accounting, profitability analysis, profit center accounting, and financial close cycles
  • Demonstrated experience in system integration and project development/management
  • Strong verbal, written and presentation communication skills, including the ability to clearly present information to various audiences in both formal and informal settings, with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint)
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong partnerships with all levels of employees through intuitive business insight and personal credibility; this includes the ability to make recommendations and influence outcomes
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills in order to manage multiple priorities and competing demands with tight timelines
  • Demonstrated initiative in recognizing opportunities for improvement and efficiency, with a willingness to challenge status quo
  • Bachelor’s degree specializing in commerce or business administration plus a minimum of 7 years of related experience; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Leadership experience is an asset
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience as an SAP FI/CO expert user is required
  • Experience in SAP BPC, SAP BW, and SAP HANA would be an asset
  • Professional accounting designation (CPA) would be an asset
  • Technical proficiencies in applying generally accepted accounting principles; U.S. GAAP knowledge would be an asset
  • Experience working in a regulated environment, preferably within the electrical utility industry, would be an asset
