Our client is a Design/Build Contractor with an in-house fabrication shop.
Your new Role
As the Mechanical VDC Modeler, you will be reporting directly to the BIM Manager. The VDC Modeler will work with the Manager, Project Managers, Project Engineers, Operations Manager and Site Foremen to create accurate Layout Drawings and 3D Drawings associated with the Mechanical System for specific Projects. The drawings required in this role will be primarily created using Pipe Designer 3D Software and AutoCAD. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Implement and follow all BIM responsibilities, and quality requirements in the project Execution Plan document, Request Mechanical and IFC Drawings from Project Managers, Review and understand Mechanical Specifications, Drawings and Legends, Prepare and work with the Bill of Materials for projects, Request and Review Approved Equipment Shop Drawings, Request Site Instructions, Arrange and meet with the team to discuss best constructibility methods for each project, Provide Layout drawings for the Total Station, Assist in Field Measurements and Inspections, Check drawings and Scale with random measurements on the drawings, Provide 3D Model on Tekla BIM site for review of the Project Team, Prepare project work schedules and meet allocated time budgets, Provide Spool drawings for fabrication, Provide a set of dimensioned drawings with each floor layout, Identify potential clash detection of pipes & communicate with Project Managers for RFI’s and Complete your own Timesheets at the end of the week.
What you’ll need to Succeed
To succeed as the Mechanical VDC Modeler, you will bring 3+ years in the construction industry, be familiar with either Mechanical Contracting/Plumbing/Engineering components, you will be detail-oriented, and be someone who can work independently but also works well in a team. Knowledge of, and ability to use, Pipe Designer 3D Software and AutoCAD is desired.
