Manager, Financial Reporting

Join a leading Canadian non-profit organization committed to financial integrity and transparency. We are seeking a Manager, Financial Reporting to lead external reporting activities and ensure accuracy, compliance, and excellence in financial disclosures that support public trust and organizational accountability. This is a Temporary 3-year contract.

Your new role

As a key member of our Finance and Corporate Services division, you will oversee the planning and delivery of external financial reporting, including annual and quarterly statements, MD&A, and presentations to boards and committees. This leadership role combines technical accounting expertise with team management and cross-functional collaboration.

What you'll do
  • Lead the preparation of consolidated and non-consolidated financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP and other applicable standards.
  • Oversee MD&A and external reporting deliverables for boards and stakeholders.
  • Manage and mentor a team of senior financial analysts, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct accounting research and develop policies, producing clear position papers on complex issues.
  • Coordinate external audits and maintain strong relationships with auditors.
  • Oversee membership billing processes and assess financial impacts of business changes.
  • Collaborate with treasury and other finance teams to ensure alignment across all reporting activities.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Canadian CPA designation (or CMA, CA, CGA) with deep knowledge of accounting standards and external reporting requirements.

  • Minimum 6 years of progressive experience in accounting, auditing, or financial reporting.

  • Proven success managing reporting teams in complex organizations.

  • Strong technical expertise in GAAP (ASPE and IFRS), internal controls, and financial frameworks.

  • Audit experience (public practice or internal) is an asset.

  • Excellent leadership, analytical, and communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex financial information for diverse audiences.

  • A continuous improvement mindset and collaborative approach.
