Your new role
The Financial Controls team is responsible for developing and maintaining effective financial controls through monthly financial reconciliations and monitoring processes. This is a new role that has been created to support the evolving mandates of Group Benefits Finance teams and will be instrumental in their development and success. As a member of the Group Benefits Finance team, the Consultant will work to improve account reconciliation processes and financial controls, develop, and maintain internal reports and Microsoft Office based applications. Success in this role is measured based upon overall ability to effectively represent the interests and mandate of the organization, support day-to-day operations, complete business initiatives, and deliver results.
What you'll need to succeed
Reviews reconciliations prepared by Sr. Accounting Specialists to ensure they are accurate and meet tight company Account Reconciliation standards and Sarbanes-Oxley controls. Prepares reconciliations, identifies, and resolves differences. Prepares monthly Account Reconciliation reporting. Supports the team through the transition to IFRS 17. Identifies appropriate control gaps and works with management and staff in other departments to resolve the issues. Performs and/or reviews aging of Balance Sheet accounts to ensure payables/receivables are effectively managed and controlled. Reconcile accounts from Oracle (current system) to SAP (new system). Coordinates and/or supports internal and external audits. Manages and/or participates in small projects and provide subject matter expertise. Identify and implement process enhancements to increase team efficiencies and internal controls by using appropriate applications. Validate, improve, and document business processes.
