Opportunity for a Building Operator based Downtown with an established commercial property landlord.

This company is a boutique-sized, privately held property management services group with a portfolio of commercial buildings all within the Downtown core of Vancouver. Family-owned for over 40 years, they are an established landlord who specialize in office buildings and small retail properties. They are focused on providing high quality property management services to their tenants spanning seven downtown office buildings, with a long history of reliable service.
Your new role
They are looking for an experienced Building Operator to join their existing team of two. Reporting into the Property Manager, you will be responsible for running three buildings, all within Downtown Vancouver. In this role, you will be completing all work orders and accompanying paperwork, while also repairing necessary plumbing, mechanical, painting, and carpentry items. You will investigate problems and monitor HVAC operations (DDC, pneumatic controllers, electronic devices, boilers, chillers, cooling towers, air compressors, motors, fans, and pumps). You will perform daily upkeep on Property Management logs, general housekeeping on physical HVAC plants and water treatment. You will also be responsible for the inventory and organization of various parts and supplies required for the operation and maintenance of buildings. This person will also liaise with contractors to provide access, troubleshooting, and assistance. Physical requirements will include carrying ladders, tools, and supplies, walk to the properties throughout the day, lift up to 50 pounds, use ladders from 4-12 feet, and use 2- & 4-wheel dollies to move material, as required. There is also an on-call component for emergency purposes in 3-week rotations, for which additional compensation is provided.
What you'll need to succeed
The successful candidate will have 2 to 3 years of experience in a Building Operator role within the commercial real estate sector. Your 4th class Power Engineering certificate is not required but will be considered an asset. The ideal candidate will have experience dealing with tenants and a professional manner. You will have strong communication and interpersonal skills with a proactive attitude. You must be able to work independently with minimal supervision on a day-to-day basis.
