Permanent job Calgary Accountant

Your new company
A successful and well established development business, based in Calgary, has an immediate need for an Accountant to join their talented Accounting and Finance team.

Your new role
Working closely with the Manager of Accounting, you will:

  • Prepare draft financial statements including note disclosures, MD&A, press release and other public company filings accurately
  • Provide working papers and backup for external audit processes
  • Prepare monthly internal reports
  • Prepare and review journal entries including backup and supporting schedules
  • Provide detailed analysis of balance sheet and income statement accounts
  • Maintain month-end and quarter-end schedules including reconciliations
  • Update and maintain the general ledger and vendor records
  • Review accounts payable, accounts receivable, expense reports, credit card statements and cash management entries
  • Cash management
  • Ensure compliance with corporate policies and internal controls
  • Assist with CRA filings
  • Draft/prepare memos and position papers as required
  • Work with other team members to ensure that tasks are completed timely and accurately
  • Provide support to other members of the accounting teams
  • Other duties as required

What you'll need to succeed

The ideal candidate will meet all of the below requirements:

  • Accounting / Finance degree and pursuing or completed the CPA program
  • Experience with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and public companies
  • 3-5 years in an accounting role
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong problem-solving including ability to identify and investigate errors and resolve them
  • Strong organizational skills, the ability to work under pressure, while prioritizing and meeting deadlines
  • Ability to take direction, be willing to learn and work within a team
  • Intercompany reconciliations and eliminations and Consolidations
