Ryfan LogoEstablished in the Northwest Territories in 1979, Ryfan Electric is a wholly-owned northern electrical contractor. With projects from institutional and commercial installations, such as schools, hospitals and office or warehouse complexes, to industrial installations, including gas plants, mining sites, and power plant construction and distribution, the company’s Alberta office provides the full range of functions from business development and estimating, project management, material management/procurement and field services to support the Northern and Southern operations.

As an industry leader in Northern Canada, 60 per cent of Ryfan Electric’s work is based in the Northwest Territories and Nunavut, and the company is growing in the north and beyond. Based in Yellowknife, NT, in 2006 the company opened an office in Spruce Grove, Alberta to support its growing northern industrial mining division and commercial electrical installations in Alberta. With plans to expand into British Columbia in the near future, there are lots of reasons to be excited about the company’s future opportunities. Ryfan Electric’s growth isn’t limited to Canada, either. The company has competed internationally, with successful bids and projects based in the former Soviet Union including completing a two-year, $30 million project in Siberia.

Over its 30 year history the company has competed in design/bid/build tender processes, as well as design/build projects. Ryfan Electric drives revenues of $25 to $30 million annually and has grown 500 per cent in volume since 2005.

Do you want to help lead a dynamic, agile company? Be part of building the long-term success of the business as Ryfan Electric transitions to a professional management organizational philosophy to support the growing organization.

The company has been involved in several high-profile projects of note; the initial construction at BHP's Ekati Diamond Mine Site; a 2005 underground conveyor at Ekati Diamond Mine; Hay River Health Centre, Canadian High Arctic Research Station; power plant and highline construction, and power plant and high voltage distribution in Yakutsk, CIS.

Ryfan Electric has a full-time team of more than fifty people, including an office team consisting of five project managers, two estimators and eight office support staff. Its full-time field staff consists of fifty five journeyman electricians and forty apprentice electricians and during busier seasons field staff can exceed one hundred and fifty.

The company also employs a full-time safety supervisor that ensures all work sites are inspected, implements our safety manual procedures, holds regular safety meetings both onsite and offsite, is responsible for WSCC/WCB reporting and various other safety related issues.
