Morton Salt is the largest of three global salt interests that are owned by K+S, and salt as a category is a strategic business for K+S. As part of the K+S Group, Morton is strongly aligned with the company’s goals and direction. From a process standpoint, the salt products which Morton produces come from three sources: solar evaporation, underground mining, and mechanical evaporation using salt brine.
Morton Salt operates three business segments – Consumer (Branded Grocery and Food Salts, Branded Packaged De-Icing and Branded Water Softening Salts), Industrial (Salt to 10,000+ applications) and Bulk Highway (Road de-icing salt). Morton Salt is a company with significant expenditures in manufacturing and distribution. The company is complex with 12,000 SKU shipping origins/finished goods, 20+ manufacturing sites, 75 bulk stock piles for deicing, 35 public warehouses and works with 10-15 co-packers. Morton’s operations span the US, Canada and the Bahamas.
