On behalf of Hays Canada, I'd like to wish everyone a very happy, and welcomed Spring season. Although the weather isn't fully cooperating yet, the forecast is saying sun is on the way. This anticipated time of year is always a busy one. With tax season, financial year end, and ramping up before the summer months, from our experience professionals across the country feel an added sense of work pressure. As a result, this is typically a busy time of year for hiring. Employers are adding temporary headcount to support their teams such as payroll and finance. Projects are getting approved before fiscal year end resulting in an emphasis on hiring permanent and contract staff. And when looking at specific industries for example, for construction in particular, the warmer months are a welcomed change and many projects tend to kick off now causing further demand on hiring on an already exacerbated labour market.
It's an exciting yet busy time of year and to support all of you as you look to add to your headcount I wanted to share our Hiring Series videos. In my 19 years with Hays I've seen it time and time again, where employers look to add someone quickly to their team resulting in the wrong hire. The process shouldn't take long, but you need to invest the time to do it right. Things like defining your recruitment needs, and setting up an effective interview through a proper structure are essential to finding the right person for your role. Going one step further, using our interview techniques will help you get to know the candidates you are interviewing, through efficient screening. The tips in these videos will help you save time and money in the long-run. Our advice, don't rush the process; invest time into preparing beforehand and thoroughly asking the right questions, enabling you to effectively recruit someone that will make a positive, lasting impact on your company.
We have a series of four employer advice videos including how to define your recruitment needs, attract the right candidate, interview techniques and interview structure. We hope you find these useful and beneficial in your hiring process.
Again I wish everyone an official happy Spring.
