Is it worth investing in your dual ticket?

Posted by Jim Fearon, Hays Canada VP, on Friday, May 6, 2016

Hays Blog: Dual ticket in high demandDemand is high for skilled trades so it might seem like becoming a journeyman is enough for a successful career.

You’re not wrong, but a dual ticket could mean you can write your own career path.

We’re seeing increasing demand for skilled tradespeople with a dual ticket across a range of industries, but especially in manufacturing.

Common pairings in demand include millwright, 4th class power engineering, electrical, and welding.

If you want to be able to write your own ticket, consider investing in the weekend and evening courses that will get you that extra qualification. Once you have one ticket, you can often complete a second in a shorter amount of time, so don’t think this requires repeating your entire apprenticeship.
